Te Koko was first made in 1996 and released in 2000. It was one of the very best barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blancs in Marlborought and has cemented a reputation as one of the best in the world.
The Koko comes from four blocks in the Wairau Valley. Long sunshine hours and free-draining soils create ideal conditions for a long ripening season. The grapes for this wine come from older vines, and they are the ripest and most concentrated expressions of Sauvignon Blanc. The end result is a wine that develops depth and complexity with age.The wine ferments in French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts (4 to 5 months) and then the wine rests in barrels on fine lees for 15 months before blending and maturation in cellars.
Te Koko 2020 is complex and appealing, with notes of white flowers, warm hay, summer stone fruit and preserved citrus on the nose. Textured,  with layers of white peach, pear and white flowers melding with mineral characters and subtle brioche notes. A freshening acidity underpins this dense and enticing palate, leading to a long and elegant finish.
