Blatina is an indigenous variety of Herzegovina. Delicate red fruits, raspberries, cherries, etc. The darkest fruits are usually sour cherries. Aged in the wood, the aromas can be reminiscent of blackberries. There is plenty of fresh, surprisingly accentuated acidity given this is a dark variety, but in Carsus Blatina the acids have softened over the course of twelve months of aging in wooden barrels. The vines are 50 years old which contributes to the good texture of the wine and facilitates the expression of terroir. The commitment to grape selection, the degree of ripeness and aging give Carsus Blatina a fuller body. The 2015 vintage won the Bronze Decanter, a prized and prestigious award in the world of wine.
