Crvik
According to the Dubrovnik archives, the Crvik family has lived in Konavle since 1500. Viticulture has been a family business for several centuries, and winemaking for a little over a century.
The second and third generations, son Rado and grandson Andro, have continued the production. In 1958, they planted the vineyard which stands to this day.
Vinica has become the center of life for the family which was involved in winemaking for a whole turbulent century up until the establishment of Croatia as a country. After that, the family started seriously engaging in the production of wine, i.e., bottling the wine.
In 1993, Andro Crvik, the third-generation winemaker in the family turned over a new leaf in the history of the winery, expanding the production and building a modern winery. A series of awards at various competitions across Croatia followed. The fourth-generation winemaker, son Petar, enrolled at the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb in 2006, bringing innovation to the winemaking, and encouraging the rebranding of wine, which led to numerous awards at international competitions.
The winery is located in Konavle, a green oasis near Dubrovnik, in the picturesque village of Komaji. The village is situated in a forest on the hillside between the Konavle fields on the one side, and the sea on the other. Inside the village, there are small karst fields of 100-500 m in width, which extend the length from Cavtat to Vitaljina, known as the “red soil”of Konavle.
