Sandeman

Sandeman is the most awarded port wine brand in the world. This global recognition as the best of the best is a testament to Sandeman's long tradition and expertise in winemaking and blending. Its well-known logo features a caped man known as "The Don" dressed in a Portuguese student's cape and a wide traditional Andalusian-type hat. Besides Port and Sherry wines, it also produces brandy and Madeira wines.

It all started in 1790, when the 25-year-old George Sandeman requested a loan from his father to set up as a wine merchant in London. George Sandeman, the founder, was succeeded in 1841 by his nephew, from whom all subsequent heads have been direct descendants, until 1952. Their drive, enterprise, and integrity built the company’s success in its first century of life and established strong leadership in the business. From early on, Sandeman specialized in the two great Iberian fortified wines, Port Wine and Sherry Wine, and soon gained an impeccable reputation, characteristic of The House of Sandeman to this day.
