Kastel Sikuli
Kastel Sikuli is a family boutique winery that has been on the market since 2019, ie the 2018 harvest. The winery owns a vineyard in Kaštel Novi on 13.000 square meters and two smaller vineyards in Dalmatian inland with 3000 vines.
The Kastel Sikuli winery was started by Ivica Kovačević, the longtime director of one of the most successful Croatian wineries, together with his sons Ivan and Tomislav, to whom he passed on his knowledge of grape growing and wine production.
The inspiration for the name was the ancient settlement of Sikuli, which was founded in the second century BC by the Greeks from the island of Issa. Sikuli was known for wine production and sale, as evidenced by the rich collection of amphorae and mega glasses found at the site. The archeological site Sikuli is located near the winery and indicates a long tradition of wine production in this area.
