Krauthaker

The Kutjevo wine region, highly esteemed for its quality wines, is situated on the southern slopes of Mount Krndija, whose greater part encloses the Požega Valley (Vallis Aurea) from the northeast. The region is ideal for viticulture, and the vine has been grown there for centuries.

Vlado Krauthaker, agronomist and enologist, embraced and successfully continued the centuries-old viticulture and winemaking tradition, starting his own business in 1992 with the help of his family. His vineyards are located on the best sites, which enabled him to become well-known very quickly and take the leading position on the market with his Welschriesling, a wine of exceptional quality which stands side by side with Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Rotgipfler (Zelenac Kutjevo), Rosé cuvée, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah.

The Krauthaker holding owns 32 ha (79 acres) of vineyards, while another 67 ha (165 acres) was given to subcontractors, with preserved control over the grape production, vine pruning and harvesting.

The quality of the Krauthaker wines has been acclaimed in the industry at domestic and international exhibitions and evaluations, having won numerous awards and medals. The Chardonnay from Mitrovac won a gold medal at the Chardonnay du Monde competition in 2002, and a gold medal at a wine competition organized by the Decanter magazine in 2010 and 2011.
