KAST

KAST is the new boutique winery of sister and brother, Katarina and Stjepan Kovčalij.

It was opened in September 2023 and the first harvest took place in 2022. The cellar is dedicated to the traditions of the Ilok region and key periods of wine history, which is why it consists of 4 parts. The first part refers to the present so there are stainless steel tanks, the second part refers to the Austro-Hungarian tradition of maturing wine in concrete vessels, the third part is dedicated to the medieval tradition so there are wooden barrels, and the last to the ancient era from the time of the Roman Empire where there are amphorae made of terracotta. The winery is fully equipped with the latest technology and decorated in modern style. Most of the work in the vineyard is done by hand, the greatest attention is paid to manual harvesting and selection, and the grapes are macerated at 5 degrees, which results in extremely fresh and fragrant wines.
