Morgado de Sta. Catherina is a renowned Arinto wine from the Bucelas region that embodies the rich heritage of great white wines from the area. The story of Morgado de Santa Catherina, which includes the Quinta da Romeira estate, dates back to 1703, the year that it was established at the behest of D. Catarina de Bragança, the queen  consort of England. Produced using grapes sourced from plots in south-facing vineyards at Quinta da Romeira. Harvested manually with total destemming and soft-crushing carried out at low temperature. After the fermentation, the wine was aged for 9 months in 225 l, 500 l, 1000 l and 2000 l French oak casks, which promote the wine's integration with the wood due to battonage. After this period, the final blend was made.
A clear golden colour with greenish tints, this wine has an aroma of great complexity with prominent notes of fruit, such as pipped fruits, candied orange peel and lime, which marry perfectly with the aromatic complexity conferred by barrel-ageing. With great body and volume, this wine is balanced by an Atlantic acidity that once more tallies with the complexity bestowed by ageing in the barrel. A persistent finish.
