Kraljevski Vinogradi
Kraljevski Vinogradi represent a unique blend of nearly 870 years of tradition and contemporary winemaking excellence. Located at the Punta Skala site above Petrčane near Zadar, today they are one of the largest vineyards in Dalmatia, with an impressive 300,000 vines. Their story begins on Christmas Day in 1066, when the Croatian King Petar Krešimir IV granted the land to the Benedictine Monastery of St. Mary in Zadar. For centuries, the Benedictine nuns of Zadar carefully tended and preserved the vineyards, laying the foundations of a winemaking tradition that has defined this region.
After the property was confiscated in the mid-20th century, a new chapter began in 2009 with the return of the land, followed in 2011 by the restoration of the vineyards. Guided by a passion for wine, the current owners planted 25 hectares of new vineyards. The rocky soil of the constantly sunlit southern slope was specially prepared by crushing the stone, creating specific conditions in which the vines yield lower quantities but grapes of exceptional quality. Thanks to this unique terroir, the wines of Kraljevski Vinogradi are distinguished by pronounced freshness, marked minerality, and a rich fruit character. Today, the winery continues the royal tradition of vine cultivation, combining historical heritage, the natural characteristics of the site, and modern winemaking expertise in every bottle.
