Kurtalj

The story begins halfway between Jastrebarsko and Samobor. The Kurtalj agricultural holding is located in the beautiful region of Mount Plešivica, and has for generations been engaged in viticulture, winemaking and hospitality.

The family owns 3.5 ha (8.6 acres) of modern vineyards, located in the sunniest sites under Mount Plešivica: Hrvojka, Stošinec and Veselnica. Besides Welschriesling, Sylvaner, Rhine Riesling, Pinot Gris, Portugieser, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the old, traditional varieties of the region are grown as well, such as Kraljevina, Ranfol (Štajerska belina) and Veltliner, which are most commonly used for cuvées.

Since 2007, the Kurtalj family has produced sparkling wines using the classic method, i.e. bottle fermentation.
