Cenerentola was born in the vineyards of Fattoria del Colle, in southern Tuscany. It is a rare red wine with a distinctly Tuscan character.
As in the famous fairy tale, where the beautiful Cinderella struggles to get herself noticed by her noble prince, in the same way, the "young" Orcia DOC appellation is called upon to perform a very arduous task in order to gain visibility. The Orcia denomination was established in 2000 in the high hills located between the territories of Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. It is a blend of Sangiovese (65%) and Foglia Tonda, both indigenous varieties. The grapes were harvested by hand, with a very careful selection of bunches. Vinification was made in steel vats with careful temperature control. The wine was then matured in wood for 12 months in French oak tonneaux and small barrels.
The wine has an intense and brilliant ruby-red color. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits are joined by some floral notes of violet and darker and more spicy aromas such as pepper, juniper and citrus. On the palate the wine is round, powerful, and harmonious. The robust structure, which guarantees long aging, is perfectly balanced by the fruit. The finish is long and pleasant. Cenerentola is a typical Tuscan red wine, well structured, that demonstrates the union between the elegance of Sangiovese and the power of the rare Foglia Tonda grape variety.
