Kabola
If you want to experience something special in Istria, you have to try the wines of the Momjan area. The ideal position of the nearby hills facing southwest and towards the sun is a prerequisite for and the secret of producing the fine wines of the region. In the immediate vicinity of the famous wine regions, the red and gray soil merge, providing the wines with a distinctive richness. In the past, even the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy enjoyed the wines of the Momjan area. Istrian Malvazija, Muscat, Refosco, Teran, Merlot and Cabernet sauvignon are typical varieties of extraordinary color and aroma.
The Kabola wines are made from selected grape varieties from the southwest of the Istrian peninsula, in the Momjan area near Buje, where the site, climate, soil and tradition provide a particular terroir of the Kabola wines. The third generation of the Markežić family formed their own distinctive style of wine production. The house has been producing wine since 1891, using a forward-looking approach with respect for the past.
Aware of all the benefits that the soil brings, Marino Markežić decided to continue the winemaking tradition of his ancestors, but to give it a modern twist. He bottles the wines under his own Kabola label (Muscat, Malvazija, Teran...)
