This is the most traditional wine of Valpolicella area. The name 1623 is dedicated to Damoli family’s history, when the 1 st family first house was built , which still stands today. After the late harvest by hand in October, the grapes were partially dryied for 100 – 150 days („appassimento“) to be more concentrated.  Slow fermentation for about 20-25 days in steel tanks followed, and then the ageing in small, old french barrels for at least 1 year.
The wine has a deep ruby red colour. It has intense aromas of cherries and plums jam, and some notes of of light almond. On the palate, the wine is elegantly sweet, warm, soft, intense, longly persistent, quite complex with overripened cherry and prune flavours.
