The 2015 Chateau d'Yquem is blend of 75% Semillion and 25% Sauvignon. The harvest itself took place between early September and mid-October, and thanks to light rainfall and cloudy mornings, the grapes were affected with a pleasant botrytis effect. A gold color, the nose is complex and rich. It opens with tropical aromas of mango and pineapple, and later develops citrus notes of orange peel and sweet-sour notes of lemon tart. It is nicely balanced on the palate, accompanied by a light minerality and a fusion of tropical notes with earthy aromas. The finish is enriched by the notes of figs, ripe pears, and coconut. Because of its high levels of both sugar and freshness, this Sautern ranks at the very top of the estate, with the best vintages from 2001 and 2009.
