Kali Riza is translated as "good root". The label Vieilles Vignes on the bottle stands for the old vines and depicts the name of this wine. Xinomavro is among the most famous red varieties from Greece and one of the most widespread ones. Somewhat similar to nebbiolo, it is characterized by high tannins and low pigment intensity. The grapes were hand-picked, carefully selected, and the wine was matured in old French oak barrels. It is aged for an additional year in the bottle before being released on the market. The wine is garnet red in color, typical to Xinomavro and age of the vines. The nose is fruit forward, like strawberries and cherries, and there are some fine notes of herbs and red flowers. On the palate, it has an accentuated body, soft and velvety tannins, and offer balanced acidity with a long aftertaste.
It ages easily and well, so it can be stored for at least 5 more years after purchase.
