Assyrtiko is one of the most famous Greek varieties. As stated on the label, the grapes for this wine come from the north of Greece, from the unique plateau of Amyndeon, from the village of Agios Panteleimonas in Florina. There lies a cooler wine region of Greece, and the vineyards are located on high altitudes of 600-700 meters, on poor sandy soil. Several lakes in the area act as climate moderators throughout the year.
In such conditions, relatively young assyrtiko vines produce grapes that give very fresh wines, which is emphasized by vinification in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 4-5 months on fine lees, which gives it fullness and a more pleasant freshness. It has a vibrant lemon-yellow color. On the nose, it is very fresh, with aromas of green and yellow apples, citrus, and some white blossom notes. It is very tasty in the mouth with delicate mineral notes and a pleasant long finish. It is easily paired with various foods, but also a great choice if you just want to enjoy a glass of wine.
