In Croatia, I would first expect Istrian merlots to be able to age for a long time. The structures and freshness are enviable and the grapes are of very high quality. Roxanich is known on the domestic scene for its natural approach to production and minimal intervention in vinification. His wines have very low amounts of sulfur which style lovers extremely appreciate. It is also known for another, much-needed dimension on the domestic scene - long aging before placement. This Bordeaux has aged for a total of 8 years, of which 6 in oak. The result is a charming natural wine that opens with complex aromas of liqueur from cherries, hibiscus, tobacco and leather. The palate is dominated by the fruity character of the wine with delicious dark plums and blueberries perfectly balanced with elegant acidity, smooth and firm tannins.
