Veralda Xtrian Refošk

This single-variety Refosco wine is produced only in exceptional years, from hand-selected, fully ripe grapes from a specially chosen section of the Kršin vineyard on the Buje hills. Intensely ruby-red in color with purple nuances, it reveals strong aromas of ripe cherry and plum enveloped in dark chocolate, complemented by refined spicy notes of licorice, red pepper, and dark tobacco. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, warm, velvety, and exceptionally rich, with pronounced freshness and minerality that highlight its strong terroir character and very long-lasting flavors. It is produced through fermentation with natural vineyard yeasts (pied de cuve), with complete malolactic fermentation, and aged for at least twelve months in a combination of new and neutral 225-liter oak barrels. A special distinction is that it was the first Croatian wine awarded a platinum medal and the title “Best in Show” at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2016. Thanks to its strong structure and balance, the wine has an aging potential of ten to fifteen years.
