Meneghetti Red is among the best domestic versions of the Bordeaux blend. It's refreshing to see that someone takes that blend a little more seriously and adds those small, but important 5% of Cabernet Franc, which will elevate this wine above the average native Bordeaux with its herbal notes. Dense, elegant wine with firm but well-balanced tannins, and intense ruby color. The nose is dominated by the aromas of raspberries and currants with accented spicy notes of vanilla, smoke, coffee, and cinnamon. Lively, fruity, complex wine with a mineral taste, with fine tannins that give a distinctly long finish.
The wine is recommender for ageing.
