This wine comes from Planeta's Feudo di Mezzo winery, located in the center of the Etna DOC winegrowing region in Sicily. On the dormant Etna volcano vineyards are planted at an altitude of 450 to 1100 meters, which significantly affects the average temperature. The soil is full of black volcanic sand and is very mineral. The Etna Bianco DOC is entirely made of the carricante variety, an indigenous Sicilian variety believed to have come from Greece a long time ago. The wines of this variety are fresh and light, very favorable for terroir expression, which is important for wines from volcanic soil as they exhibit interesting mineral expressions.
